Best Hidden Gems of Paris

01) The Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

The Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is a large park in the 19th arrondissement that tourists often overlook. It features a beautiful lake, a waterfall, and a suspension bridge, making it a picturesque spot for a picnic or a leisurely stroll. What makes it special is the tranquility the place generates. You feel like you're as light as air when you go there. It's nothing like being in Boston or Madrid.

02) The Catacombs of Paris

The Catacombs of Paris is a network of tunnels beneath the streets of Paris that dates back to Roman times. Today, they're home to millions of human remains and bones from cemeteries closed during the French Revolution in 1789. Visits to the catacombs are only allowed with an official tour guide. They are subject to availability — book ahead online or at least two weeks before your date of travel if possible!

03) La Pagode

La Pagode is a hidden gem in the 7th arrondissement. It's a beautiful cinema built in 1896 and features stunning Japanese-inspired architecture. It's a great place to catch a foreign film or simply stare at the unique and beautiful interior.

La Pagode is from the era when the French became obsessed with beauty. And while that desire might have ebbed in recent years, it is still very much there in the form of older architecture.

04) Passage Brady

Passage Brady is a covered arcade in the 10th arrondissement that is known for its Indian restaurants and shops. It's a colorful and vibrant spot that is a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat and explore a different culture within the city. When you go there, take a look at all the perfume Paris has to offer. Locally, you'll find some incredible scents and clothes to wear on date night – ideal if you're traveling with your partner.

It has been abandoned since 1934, but today it is a hidden gem for hikers and urban explorers. The path is covered in vegetation and graffiti, making for a unique and adventurous walk through the city. Just don't go there if you're expecting oodles of quintessential Parisien beauty. You probably won't find it.

06) Le Comptoir Général

Le Comptoir Général is a hidden bar and restaurant tucked away in a courtyard in the 10th arrondissement. The interior is decorated with vintage furniture and African artifacts, giving it a unique and eclectic vibe.
