If you hate exercising, why not get active by walking more often? I know leaving the car behind is not always possible, but there are more opportunities than you might think. This can include just walking to the corner store or taking the stairs to your office instead of the elevator. If you can walk, make an effort to do so, and you will do your heart health and mental wellbeing a lot of good without even thinking about it. I enjoy a nice brisk walk to the grocery shop or the local park, and I try to make sure I include walking as a regular part of my day!
Find A Favorite Activity
Being active doesn’t mean getting a gym membership or doing a hundred squats every day. Just do a favorite activity! So many fun activities do not require wearing workout outfits and sweating away that you can almost certainly find something that is your jam. For example, you could get a surprisingly good workout from playing Pokemon Go in the park with your kids, or enjoy bowling & family fun for all ages at the local alley. Even a few hours cruising around the mall with your friends and doing a spot of shopping will get your heart pumping and help you burn calories.
Get an Exercise Buddy
Many people who think they hate exercise generally find that they can tolerate it a lot more easily if they have a good friend or family member along for the ride. You might find running tedious when you do it alone, but when you spend your time gossiping with a good friend, the time flies by, and you often find yourself looking forward to your runs more than anything else in your life. Plus, people with buddies are more likely to stick to an exercise regime than those who work out alone.
Do Regular Physical Activity
If you hate to exercise but are still willing to give it a go, something that can help is building very small amounts of exercise into your day.
