We all go through various chapters in life. Some of them are short, and some of them feel way too long. But in hindsight, we can more easily define their beginnings and endings. If you're moving from one chapter to another, be that the end of a relationship, securing a new job, settling into a new home, or even making a new friend, trying to reinvent yourself can be tempting. Sometimes in life, it can be hard to understand who you are clearly. This is entirely normal!

Ultimately, if you want to come closer to the "new" person you want to be, you should feel your way through it, and not just theorize the process. What better way but with a few tips, right? In any case, we hope these tips help you get there. Now let's take a look!

01) Book A Head-To-Toe Spa Day

Sure, you can philosophize your way into a new perspective, but you can also spend some time reflecting on who you want to be and how you want to get there. Yet sometimes, you just want to take a load off. A head-to-toe spa day can provide that.

You might go alone or with a friend or partner, but the idea is to be as relaxed as you can and not to make any obligation of it. Enjoy that morning jacuzzi and spa treatment, then try a massage, then perhaps opt to have a manicure or pedicure, depending on how much time you have left. Take it easy, and don't be afraid to relax with a mug of warm tea after the fact. Leave your problems at the door.

Not only can this help you undo some of that tension you've been holding in your shoulders, but it will no doubt make you feel so much better, help you think so much clearer, and, as the great Jay-Z said, you'll get to brush that dirt off your shoulder.

02) Dress & Express Yourself

From time to time, it can feel as though we spend more time as the person we're supposed to be instead of the person we actually are. This can reflect how we come across to people, the daily decisions we make, and of course, how we dress.

If you feel as though you're stuck in a style that feels outdated, or you're wearing an ill-fitted wardrobe, or perhaps you wish to go back to your roots (like wearing more cultural dress or even wearing country flat caps in a smart city environment). In that case, it's good to experiment and see how you feel. For others, a change like a neck lift for turkey neck may help them feel confident, or wearing jewelry despite never feeling expressive enough to do so before is a triumphant change.

At worst, you'll realize that your curiosity didn't pan out. At best, you might feel like a new person, able to express yourself differently.

03) Spend Some Time In Reflection & Reading

It's healthy to spend some time in reflection, but finding the space for that can be tough. We'd recommend picking up a reading habit because it will often provide the backbone or inspiration you may need to feel your best self going forward. For example, reading a book on mythology can help you understand how people looked at the world and thus counter your own preconceptions. Reading a memoir can help you empathize and understand the challenges someone else has been through (thus giving you room to consider your own), while enjoying a small book of poetry can help you reflect on the meaning.

We rarely give ourselves time to think in our now-now-now modern world, with social media notifications and news headlines constantly demanding our attention. It's okay to detach and decompress for a little while, even if that means taking your morning walks with no headphones and reflecting on a scenario or circumstances in your life. With this, we can feel anew and give ourselves a fresh vantage point.

04) Consider How You Wish To Change

Another way to feel new again is to focus on tangible goals. Sometimes, to feel like a new person, you have to be a new person. Note that this isn't a command on our part. From time to time, you might just need to ask for help. If you've noticed that some nights you say you're not going to drink, but then have a beer in your hand, it's good to see that and speak to people who can help.

It could be that you have a temper that is straining your relationship, and working on that is the best thing you could possibly do for people around you. Making goals that you hope to change not only helps you feel actualized but that it is possible to get there, and sometimes without waiting for years to see any results. A little elbow grease can't hurt!

Another important aspect of change and self-improvement is considering how you can put your skills at the service of others. As such, engaging in charity work can be a game-changer not only for your perception of yourself but also for how you see yourself interacting with those around you to make a lasting impact. Volunteering in your local community can be a part of your journey of self-discovery and self growth, as explained by Anthony P Orlich. This can give you a different perspective on your own life, and more importantly, it can be a great starting point for self-reflection.

05) Give Yourself A Cognitive Pause

To achieve some of the advice in this post, you need to give yourself time to think. We've mentioned how reading can execute this, as can walking, but from time to time, you may need more than that. If you have holidays accrued with your employer, then taking a mental health day, perhaps after a public holiday so you enjoy a four-day weekend, can be a good idea. For others, they might rent out a log cabin in the woods and stay there for a week, playing their guitar, singing, writing poetry, feeding the fire with wood, and cooking simple but delicious meals.

It's so easy to be highly stimulated in our society, so we often fail to think on the level we would otherwise like to. A little care and attention may go a long way here, so don't be afraid to give yourself time for it, even if you have to plan for that event months away.

Hopefully, with this advice, you'll be sure to reinvent and reassert yourself or come closer to the "you" you were all along. All it takes to get there is a little bit of effort.
